Abstract:

Nowadays by the new methods of the surgery and by decreasing it's complications more patients could be candidate for surgery but one of the existing complications that the surgeons should know it as much as possible is post operation bleeding. They should try to gain enough knowledge in order to be able to screen the high risk patient and prevent postoperative bleeding. By all these preventions if patient had bleeding during the surgery and after that, surgeons should know how to control it and choose the best way to have less complications and more effective treatments.

Abstract:

Background: Several studies have shown that administration of magnesium sulfate prolongs the bleeding time. Objective: To investigate such effects in pregnant women in Shiraz, southern Iran. Methods: This study was conducted on 30 pregnant women aged between 18 and 32 yrs, with a gestational age of 20 to 37 weeks, who presented to Hafez and Zeynabiyeh Emergency Units affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences between January and August 1999, with premature labor pain or complaining of abdominal or back pain. The patients received tocolytic treatment with magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) in absence of any contraindication. The blood pressure and bleeding time of patients were measured upon admission to the labor room and before any intravenous infusion of MgSO4. Platelet count and serum magnesium level were also determined for each case. The aforementioned measurements and samplings were repeated following administration of 10 g MgSO4. Results: A significant difference was observed between the mean serum magnesium level and mean arterial blood pressure, before and after MgSO4 infusion. The mean bleeding time showed an increase of 27 seconds (15%) after infusion of Mg. Nevertheless, this value still remained in the normal range of 120–420 s. A direct relationship was found between the increase in serum magnesium level and the bleeding time. No change was observed in the mean platelet count. Conclusion: Magnesium therapy is associated with an increase in bleeding time in pregnant women, with no change in platelet count. This increase had no clinical significance and dose-independent.

Abstract:

Background: Bleeding time is the most reliable test to assess platelets' function. We initiated this study to determine the relationship between preoperative bleeding time and postoperative hemorrhage.Materials & Methods: 149 patients underwent elective coronary artery bypass grafting surgery with no history of bleeding disorders, from winter 1380 till the first six month of 1381, were enrolled in a prospective descriptive study. Preoperative bleeding time, postoperative blood loss from left, right and mediastinal chest tubes and total blood loss during and after operation, duration of extracorporeal blood circulation, grafts' number and infused packed red blood cells and platelets units were measured. Results: There was no significant relation between total blood loss from thoracic tube with operation time (r =0.03), extracorporeal blood circulation time (r =0.21), graft number (r=0.09) and infused packed red blood cells units (r=0.03) or infused platelet units (r =0.12) (P>0.05). But the relations between bleeding time (sec) and blood loss from left (r=52), right (r=0.81) and mediastinal (r=0.79) chest tube and total blood loss of thoracic tube (r =0.70) (P<0.05) were significant. Conclusion: Bleeding time measurement is recommended to predict the postoperative bleeding.

Abstract:

Hemangioma is a vascular tumor with increased endothelial turnover during proliferative phase of development that may involute progressive cellular death or fibrosis. Hemangioma is the most common tumor of infancy potential problems in the proliferative phase include ulceration; bleeding, infection, distortion of the cornea, obstraction of the visual axis, nasal passage larynx or auditory canal, CHF, skeletal distortion and the effect of this tumor on the face of the children sometimes need's for treatment with exision the tumore. We did this study because of high incidence hemangioma in infancy and the complication and effects of this on beauty. The main aim for this study was the comparision of surgical insison and CO2 laser insison in treatment of hemangioma. This study is a kind of clinical traial and the population studied who reffered to Alzahra and Emam Mousa kazem hospitals in Isfahan on 1373 to 1379. These information were calculated through studing of 60 cases with cutaneous vascular tumors. The volume sample was n =30 in each group. with attention that the minimum and maximum of the operating time in exision of hemangioma is 15 and 180 minute and with supposing that the distribution of operating time is normal so variances are equal the volume sample in each group was n=30 estimate SD in each group is 27.5 as the result of n=30 from each of groups with error possibility x=0/05 and power is 1-b=0/80. minimum difference between the operation thime mean equal 20 minute in two metodes in statistical is significant in this study patient informations accumulated in check list that contain: hospitalization time, age, sex. pay expanditure, the mean bleeding during the operation, the lenth of operation time, surgical complication. The follow up the patient was six month. the method of smapling was occasional the information was given to spss soft ware and with use of the statistical metods T-test and chi-squar was analysed. The mean bleeding during the operation in two groups compared with using t-test and the mean and SD in the group of surgical insision was 123.8+108.8 and in the group of CO2 laser was 30.8+29.2 as the result of the difference between in this two gropus was significant (P<0.00l). The mean of hospitalization time and the pay expenditure in the year of 1379 and operating tine in two groups compared with using the t-test. The (p) in each group was 0/13 and 0/38. As the result, the difference between two groups was not significant, relative plenty edema, percantge pain in the insision, infection incidence, percentge escar after exision of mass was compared the (P) in each group was 0.3, 0.57, 0.31, 0.60 as the result, the difference between two groups was not significant. In the group that used laser of CO2 wasn't seen any infection. female/male ratio was 1/6 and the most common site of involvment was head and neck. The mean age and size of mass and dissection area was compared with attention that (P) was 0.68, 0.30, 0.2, as the result of difference between two groups was not significant. The information resulted during study shows: that use of CO2 laser insision for hemangioma cause the less bleeding during the operation than the use of surgical insision so the compilication as like injection is less than in the use of CO2 laser.

Abstract:

Magnesium sulfate is widely used in obstetrics and is drug of choice in two important complications of pregnancy, preeclampsia and preterm labor. The antagonistic effects of magnesium sulfate on calcium ion and on platelet aggregation may lead to changes in bleeding time. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of magnesium sulfate on bleeding time in women with threatened preterm labor. A group of 40 patients with signs of preterm labor were treated with magnesium sulfate (4 grams in 200 ml D.W.5% in 20 minutes followed by maintenance dose of 2 grams per hour infusion) and template bleeding time (with IVY method), platelet count and mean arterial pressure were obtained before and 2 hours after magnesium sulfate infusion. The data were analyzed using paired t-test. The mean bleeding time before and after treatment were 161.1+50.6 and 169+61.8 seconds respectively and the mean platelet count was 179,925 and 185,250 respectively. The mean arterial pressure was 86.9+9 mmHg before treatment compared to 81.9+8.3 mmHg after treatment. According to the data presented in this study, there was no significant difference in bleeding time and platelet count before and after treatment with magnesium sulfate whereas the mean arterial pressure was significantly different (p<0.001) before and after treatment with magnesium sulfate.

Abstract:

Introduction: Platelet aggregation plays a significant role in the etiology of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, treatments to inhibit platelet aggregation can reduce the risk of coronary thrombosis. Several studies indicated that garlic can inhibit platelet aggregation. This study aimed to determine the effect of garlic in comparison with Plavix on platelet aggregation.Materials and Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, platelet aggregation and bleeding time was obtained from 36 healthy volunteers. Volunteers were randomly divided into 4 groups. The first, second and third groups respectively received 600, 1200 and 2400 mg garlic and the fourth group received 75 mg Plavix for three weeks. Afterwards, platelet aggregation and bleeding time were both evaluated and the results before and after the study were compared. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16.Results: Platelet aggregation induced by adenosine diphosphate and arachidonic acid agonists decreased in the groups that used 1200 or 2400 mg garlic. This difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). As compared to the other groups, the bleeding time also increased in those received 2400 mg garlic pill. Conclusion: Since garlic can inhibit platelet aggregation, it is suggested to use it as a supplementary treatment to reduce platelet aggregation is highly recommended.

Abstract:

The aim of this research was determination of the required time for coagulation of in vivo cut bleeding treated by non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma. To meet this, an atmospheric pressure plasma jet device was designed and constructed. Helium was used as working gas. The electrical parameters and optical emission spectrum of helium plasma were measured. The averaged treatment time to coagulate the incision bleeding on the mouse liver was obtained 8. 6 μ s, and the average time of naturally incision bleeding coagulation was 10 min.
